Personal Trainer St Albans? - Now Do These 3 Things Instead

Personal Training, personal trainer, gym, bootcamp

Following on from yesterday's article:

In yesterdays article I made it very clear what I don't think a personal trainer should be doing with their clients. I received some interesting feedback with a large number of readers (that currently have a personal trainer or have some form of training by an "expert" whether that be in a bootcamp or gym type environment environment) telling me that my experience is not unique and that they have experienced one of all 3 of the things I told personal trainers not to do with their clients.

I feel like I need to redress the balance

And actually say what I think our personal trainer in St Albans should be doing with his or her clients.

#1 Have The Sessions For Your Clients Planned In Advance

By advanced I do not mean coming up with a training session for your client 5 minutes before the session is supposed to start. The structure and periodisation of the sessions you are doing with your client should be set weeks if not months in advance. You should be thinking about how many reps or sets a client will be doing, what the focus of the sessions among hundreds of other variables. It is simply not possible to give all of those things the care and attention they need if you are not planning your sessions at least weeks in advance. At The DVCC the periodisation of sessions (structure) is planned 6 months in advance which makes adjusting things for clients specific needs easy.

#2 Be Constantly Learning

The qualification you originally did should be the beginning of your learning. As in any other industry or profession the best practises and the most effective methods change and evolve. If you make learning a habit that you invest time in every day, you will be able to stay abreast of all of this knowledge and know that your are giving your clients the very best results and service they can get, but more importantly deserve. All of our Personal Trainer St Albans and at our other centres (See all DVCC locations) undergo 200 hours of further education in their first year and even then have exams on exercise and nutrition every 90 days.

#3 Be Professionally Competitive

What do I mean by being "professional competitive"?

I mean never, ever, be satisfied that someone else is helping their clients get better results than you are, achieve more than you are, creating a nicer environment to transform themselves in than you are.

With this attitude of professional competition you will actively search out people that may be doing these things better than you are, you will be able to improve what you offer to your clients daily which will result in more clients achieving what they want with you.

At The DVCC one of our core values is "Competition - Be The Best", we all strive every day to beat any other alternatives our clients have to us. To achieve more life changing transformations than they do, create a more positive supportive environment and culture than they do. You can see how we are doing here.

Of course there are hundreds more characteristics and habits that our St Albans personal trainer needs to exemplify but focusing on these three things will give them a head start over 99% of their colleagues.
