See Marcus's Transformation. On His Own Story..

Fitness, Case Study, Nutrition, Exercise, Weight loss, Workout

Greg: This is Greg from the DVCC Northampton and I’m joined today by Marcus Moore. So Marcus, how long have you been with the DVCC now?

Marcus_SpotlightMarcus: I joined the DVCC in February this year, start of February I believe.

Greg: So about five months?

Marcus: Yes, about five months.

Greg: And in that five months, what kind of results have you had?

Marcus: In that five months my body fat percentage has dropped. I think I started about 38% body fat and that has now come down to about 24%, so I’ve dropped 13%. I’ve *lost three *stone of body fat and I’ve gained muscle as well, so I’m really happy with myself.

Greg: Good, that’s awesome. Can you recall what initially brought you to the DVCC?

Marcus: Yes, just reaching a point in my *life where I was about 18 *stone or over 18 *stone and decided that I just needed to make a change and not just do something for a few months; that I needed to make some lasting changes to both diet and exercise and try and remove some of those habits.

Greg: So that was the specific problem you had when you first came to see us, right?

Marcus: Yes, exactly. I was overweight and just had some bad habits in terms of the lifestyle I was leading. I do a lot of travelling and it’s very hard to manage. I found it very hard to manage diet and exercise alongside of that and I was looking for a solution that wouldn’t just look at exercise, or I didn’t want to just see a nutritionist, I wanted to something that would help me all round.

Greg: So was that something you had struggled with a long time - did it take you quite a while to put on that weight?

MarcusMarcus: Yes, I’ve always been quite big, and gradually, certainly for the last four or five years I’ve been around the 18/19 stone mark and have hovered around there. I’ve tried a crash diet before and these milk shake diets for three months; I lost about 3 stone in 3 months and then put it all back on in about the 4 months following that.

Greg: During that time, what do you think were your main obstacles that prevented you from solving that problem?

Marcus: Travelling a lot, I travelled a lot in Europe and with that it makes it very difficult to follow a set regime; I can’t pre-prepare any meals when I’m travelling. And also just laziness, just getting into bad habits – getting in it was easy just to sit down and pick on snack food and whatever food you’ve got in the cupboards.

Greg: So it was more like a convenience thing then?

Marcus: Yes, exactly.

Greg: You mentioned the crash diet you did; was there any other thing you tried previously to solve your problem?

Marcus: Not really, no. The crash diet and I’ve done a bit of exercise on and off; joined gyms with limited success, but nothing’s really stuck – I haven’t really found one regime that’s helped me to solve all of my issues.

Greg: The DVCC was perhaps the first regular exercise you’ve done in quite a while?

Marcus: Many years, yes.

Greg: So what convinced you that the Real You transformation process would be different to what you have tried previously?

Marcus: Speaking to Mark and Steve at the start of the year and just learning about the process, and at the time I was trying to find something that wasn’t just personal training – because that was just going to look out for one thing – I wanted something that I could keep coming back to and ask questions about my nutrition and the exercise and that would help me on the longer journey.

I wasn’t going to do it for 12 months, I wanted something that would stick for a long time and the DVCC just seemed to tick all the boxes.

Greg: So you wanted something to be overall as opposed to just exercise.

Marcus: Yes, exactly; I didn’t want to do just exercise and I knew it wasn’t just nutrition, I knew it was both of the things together and I needed a process that would help me do both of those.

Greg: Ok. So how has your *life changed since starting the Real You transformation process?

Marcus: Wow, well, it’s been amazing few months really. I’ve dropped about eight inches in dress size so it’s cost me a fortune in new clothes!

Greg: A good fortune though!

MarcusMarcus: Yes, a good fortune. And I am just a lot fitter, a lot healthier. I’ve got a five year old son and I enjoy doing a lot more with him now, taking him out and doing sports with him and taking part in his school sports day.

Greg: So overall being more active as well, with the kids and stuff. Could you give me an example of something that’s happened during your transformation that you wouldn’t have thought possible before starting at the DVCC?

Marcus: It’s difficult with one thing; I’m still fairly early on so I’m thinking about doing one of the mud runs that we all get involved in and that’s something I would never even have thought about before.

Greg: They are great fun.

Marcus: I’m sure I will be convinced to enter one of those!

Greg: I’m sure you’ll enjoy it too.

Marcus: I think generally just confidence; I’ve got a lot more confidence now than I used to have before. My wife sees me walking around the house with my shirt off a lot more than I used to, so I think I am a lot more confident and really looking forward to trying new things.

Greg: Good; would you say that new found confidence carries over into other aspects of your *life?

Marcus: Yes, certainly. At work, people have noticed a significant change in my exuberance around the office and it’s been generally a positive experience.

Greg: Awesome, good. Any final words from you, Marcus?

Marcus: I would say it’s been the most hard work I’ve ever done in my *life but it’s been thoroughly worth while and I recommend it to anybody.

Greg: Thank you very much for joining me today Marcus.
