See How Anne Has Lost A Large Amount Of Weight & Recovered From Her Injuries

Case Study, Nutrition, Weight loss

Anne_Portrait_weight_lossHave you ever met a lady who is a world champion? Well let me introduce you to Anne Goldsmith. I think you are going to find her "story" about how she fits in a busy work/health and family life....We would love to hear your feedback in the comments section at the end.

Introduction

I am a 44 year old Teacher. I am married with two children and I started started at DVCC on 20th May 2014.

What Inspired Your Transformation?

I have exercised for as long as I can remember - gym, netball and martial arts (Tang Soo Do) for 6 yrs. I had been out with an injury for the past 2 years (from netball) - a tear in the cruciate ligament. I've always been quite motivated to exercise, although when I was able to return to training, I was working full-time and never had the time or energy!

When I returned to training I'd lost my 'mojo!' I'd lost my strength, stamina, fitness and confidence in the recovery of my injury. I felt I needed pushing and motivating, but by someone who knows how to take into account my injuries. I was feeling tired, sluggish and quite negative, which is unlike me.

I have had three previous injuries (all of which have happened playing netball). I needed someone to help monitor my 'injuries' and to help me achieve my goals.

What Were Your Concerns Before Joining DVCC?

Would I be fit again? Can I remain injury free? Is it right for me? It took me two months to actually get in touch with DVCC - my husband decided to google personal trainers and gave me the details - then I did the rest!

I found the first session amazing, fun and hard! I had never done weights before, but found them extremely motivational!

My personal trainers know me well. They understand how I train and know exactly how to motivate me/push me. When I think that's it - they know I still have a bit more energy to give. They make the sessions fun and interesting. The sessions are also always varied.

DVCC is a really friendly environment. Everyone who trains there is friendly and supportive too. I've enjoyed the social aspect too (coffee mornings and nights out.)

What Has Been Your Biggest Challenge?

Eating healthily! But I've found that through exercising as part of my daily routine I have managed to make eating healthily a habit too.

I can also see the transformation, which motivates me to eat healthily to maintain the way I feel.

I tend to exercise in the mornings after I have taken my children to school, this helps me keep a routine with my exercise and during the summer holidays I have continued to train early with them coming to watch.

What Are Your Goals Going Forward?

My goals initially were to get fit, build muscle, achieve my black belt for Tang Soo Do (which will be this October), and gain a gold medal in my next Tang Soo Do competition. After 10 sessions I had lost 4lb of body fat and gained 2lb of muscle.

After a further 12 sessions I had lost an additional 4lb of fat and gained a further 0.5lb of muscle.

Losing weight wasn't a goal of mine, although I knew that by gaining muscle and toning up, I would also lose weight. I didn't expect the transformation to begin so quickly!

What Advice Would You Give To Your "Old" Self?

No matter what sort of person you are, whether you have previously exercised or not. DVCC can help you. They assess each person as an individual and tailor your training sessions for your needs and goals. I never thought I could achieve all that I have achieved so far at DVCC. I have achieved some of my goals and keep adding new ones. Within the first month I felt fitter, stronger, healthier, happier, more alert, more confident and focused. I couldn't have achieved all this without DVCC, Scott and Ross.

The list is endless - I am amazed at the transformation I have made so far and I know that with DVCC and Scott and Ross (my personal trainers) "...the sky is the limit! In fact there are no limits!!!"

Do you feel intimidated by normal gyms?

The big box impersonal gyms leave you feeling awkward, and lacking motivation to lose weight and get fit.

The Training Gyms is for men and women who want to lose weight, get fit but don't want to do it in a normal big box gym.

We know it's important. We just don't know where to start.
