Alternative Ways To Measure Your Progress!

How Do You Measure Progress? It's a great question with a lot of debate!

We write a lot about 'success' and what it means to our clients. Everyone has unique goals and for many of us 'weight loss' is a real driver...But have you ever felt that demotivating feeling when you’re working super hard, but still not quite losing the weight you’re looking for?

We get it. It sucks and if left unchecked, can completely derail your fitness routine.

 👎

If that is sounding like you, we'd love to help!

Here are 5 new ways of measuring your progress to keep your motivation at an all time high and why just, because you might not be losing weight, you are still progressing in a tonne of other ways!

ba1-1
1) How Do You FEEL?

This is often one of the most overlooked parts of a fitness journey.

Ultimately it’s about how you feel after a workout! Do you feel great? Like you’ve achieved something you didn’t before? and are you leaving with a great sense of pride and accomplishment? Use that motivation to drive your success!

Sometimes it's important to take a step back and remember how far you have come. When we’re lifting heavy weights, it’s easy to get frustrated that you aren’t increasing the weight by 5kg every session, but cast your mind back to when you had never lifted a weight before? Or when you did your first deadlift? Look at you now! You're doing awesome!

2) What do your friends think?

We’re often very good at being our own worst enemy when it comes to seeing our results. Sometimes a compliment from friends or family members go unnoticed or dismissed when it is genuine and sincere.

If someone compliments you on how you are looking, or that your body shape is changing, take that compliment! You’ve put the work in, so don't be afraid to show it off!

3) Your Muscle Mass

Depending on how you view it, weight is only around 10% of your fitness, but most of us see it as 100%.

The scales (or sad step as we know it) doesn't give you a full picture of your fitness journey and when we see they haven’t gone down every day, we lose motivation.

So what’s a better approach? Check your skeletal muscle mass!

At DVCC we use InBody machines to help clients not only realise how far they have come, but also to visually see how muscle muscle they have gained and how much fat they have lost! This gives a far more holistic picture rather than "On Monday I weighed x, now I weight y", keeping you motivated, engaged and interested in your own progress!

So there you have it, 3 new, simple ways to view your progress. Don’t get glued to the scales, they aren’t in charge of your success. You are!

Do you feel intimidated by normal gyms?

The big box impersonal gyms leave you feeling awkward, and lacking motivation to lose weight and get fit.

The Training Gyms is for men and women who want to lose weight, get fit but don't want to do it in a normal big box gym.

We know it's important. We just don't know where to start.
