Transcript:

Mark: Hey! This is Mark and Stephen from TheDVCC.com, the place to be if you want to lose weight and increase your muscle tone! So, we’re going to answer a question that I was posed last night, I believe it was, and that’s “How do you get more toned as a lady, as a female?”

So, let’s shoot this across to Stephen. He’s got a little bit of experience in this. Maybe not as much experience as I have, but I’ll give him his moment.

Stephen:  So, the interesting thing when people talk about building muscle tone, and you hear it a lot, is I want to get more toned. You hear it from men the same as women, but they don’t actually know what that means. So when I ask, “What do you mean? What do you mean by muscle tone?” “Well, I want to build muscle tone.” And the thing with it, there is no such thing as “muscle tone.” You can’t build a muscle that is toned any more than you can build a bulky muscle.

Mark:  Right.

Stephen:  What people mean is that they want to sustain muscle and maybe build a little bit of muscle, but lose body fat at the same time, which gives a muscle more…

Mark:  Definition.

Stephen:  Definition.

Mark:  So that’s what they’re looking for, is definition.

Stephen:  They’re looking for definition. Exactly.

Mark:  So muscle tone is another word for definition.

Stephen:  Yeah. Basically, muscle tone is another word for either sustaining the amount of muscle you have, building it a little bit and losing body fat at the same time. So, as a woman, it’s actually really, really hard to build muscle tone. It takes a lot of effort, a lot of work and you’ll never really be able to build significant amounts of muscle anyway.

Mark:  Significant being so that you look like a man, basically. You look like a bodybuilder. That’s a significant amount. I mean, you can increase muscle tone, but you generally won’t become muscle-bound.

Stephen:  No. So what you mean by saying “muscle tone” is that you want to lose body fat and have some muscle. So, the most effective way to do that is actually through resistance training. There is no other way as effective as that. Using resistance training and high intensity interval training combined will allow you to either sustain the muscle you have, build a little bit and also lose body fat. That’s the combination that you really want to actually get more defined, more toned, more muscle tone.

Mark:  So there’s your answer. You want to increase your muscle tone by doing resistance training. If you have any questions, do put them in the boxes below. I hope you saw my professionalism just carrying on there despite flies, a plague of flies coming and getting me.

But, once again, this is Mark and Stephen from TheDVCC.com
