Amanda Shares Her Experience with The DVCC

"My name is Amanda and I am 52, soon to be 53. I've been here for just over 2 years. Josh, who used to be a trainer here, I've known him for quite some time and he had been badgering me for quite a while to join DVCC. I kept on saying, "No! I don't think it's for me, it sounds a bit too hard and I'm quite happy with my gym classes.

Eventually I did do 1 session and I just fell in love with it, the people that i trained with were so supportive and encouraging and it's just a really wonderful place to train to be honest with you and that was it - I was hooked!

That's the one thing here, with there only being a max of 4 in a (semi-private) session, they're on you the whole time. So any slight deviation from what you are supposed to be doing they're on it and helping you to correct it and get the best out of it. I love it.

I feel more confident, I'm definitely stronger, and I think that's probably more important as you get older, especially as a woman I think it's really important to keep strong and keep fit.

I look at my mum and people at my age that do nothing and there is a big difference. I love it! I love the people, I love the trainers, It's just a great place to be.

(Happiest Moment) I think for me the people, I know I keep saying it but I really feel the people, are so encouraging and so positive. There's no competitiveness but even so they want to encourage you and we all do encourage each other.. I just love coming here and I never thought I'd say that because training for me was always something I had to force myself to do, so I could have my treats.

Having the small groups, you're really focused on, and I love it! If they think you're slightly trying to be cheeky and not do something then they're very quick to make sure you are. I think you should just try it, just have one session and I promise you, you will love it.
