See Lindsay's Fat Loss Story. On His Own Words.

Case Study, Weight loss

Josh: Hi. This is Josh from the DVCC, and I am here with Lindsay Cooper who has been a client at DVCC Bedford for about two and a half months. In that short period of time, she has achieved some amazing results!

We are now going to talk to Lindsay, so that many of you out there can hopefully benefit from some of the things that helped her along the way.

So, first things first, Lindsay - how old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Lindsay: I’m 55.

Josh: Okay. You have been a client at DVCC for two and a half months - how much fat have you *lost in that time?

Lindsay: I *lost 16 pounds.

Josh: Awesome! What about your dress size?

Lindsay: I am down two dress sizes.

Josh: Good for you. Now let's go back to the beginning, how did you first put on the weight?

Lindsay: I put it down to family life when I was a young girl; I have been yo-yo dieting ever since then. I have been small, been big, but in the latter years it got worse.

Josh: Okay. So let's take, say, a year ago - how was your day different?

Lindsay: Work wise, it is still the same as I do now; but I think I just ate what was easy, convenient and quick; I never stopped to think about what I was eating.

Josh: And how do you think you came to form those habits?

Lindsay: It was my lifestyle I suppose; hours of work, not thinking, etc. I have had blood pressure issues for a few years so I should have been watching my weight a bit better, but like everybody else, it’s just quickness I think.

Josh: When did you actually decide that you wanted to *lose weight?

Lindsay: My blood pressure has been very high recently. Health issues are not good; I now have osteoarthritis, so it was time to make the change.Lindsay_Cooper

Josh: Was that when you first came to the DVCC?

Lindsay: Yes.

Josh: How is your *lifestyle different now, compared to then?

Lindsay: I think more what I’m eating; when I'm shopping, I make healthier choices, and I fit more exercise into my *life now, than I've done before.

Josh: Good. I know you're busy with work, so how do you manage to actually fit all that in?

Lindsay: I come here on my days off. Plus, I actually do some exercise at home now, using the program you sent me via the internet. I also bought myself some weights.

Josh: Great. It really seems to have changed your thinking on other things, not just exercising and food; you are looking to make these decisions off your own back, which is great. So, is your mindset different now?

Lindsay: Much better, I am more programmed into what I should eat, what's healthy and what isn't. I feel much better in myself, and my blood pressure is slowly going down.

Josh: Good. So rather than just taking things as they come, it is more of a case of thinking and making more informed decisions.

Lindsay: Definitely. And when I go shopping, everything is written out before I go, and I don't deviate from the list.

Josh: Good for you, I like that. So, other than the obvious fat *loss, what other benefits have you noticed by exercising?

Lindsay: I feel better in myself. My knee problem is improving slowly, my blood pressure, as I said, is coming down slowly. I also sleep a lot better than I've ever done before.

Josh: So the benefits are a lot more than just being able to fit into a smaller dress size?

Lindsay: It was never about my size, it has always been about my health.

Josh: That's excellent. Now, for people listening, what is the hardest thing about maintaining the new lifestyle that you have now?

Lindsay: It's not going off the beaten track when you go out with friends, or if you’re having a bad day, just keep focused, and I don't buy rubbish, so it’s not in the house!

Josh: Lastly, what advice would you give to someone who is in your position, or rather the position you were in before you started exercising?

Lindsay: Just think seriously about what you want in life. I don't think about it as a vanity thing, it is more of a health issue and this has helped me a lot more.

Josh: Good. So that's Lindsay and a little bit about her story. And this has been Josh from the Double Vision Conditioning Centre. Have a nice day. Bye
