Pally Always Struggled With Nutrition, See How She Has Managed To Change This

Case Study, Weight loss

Josh:   Hi, this is Josh from the DVCC and I’m here today with Pally, who is a client of the DVCC Bedford, and I’d just like to go over a few things about Pally’s story and how she’s got to where she is today. So – a little bit of background – Pally has *lost nearly 20lbs of fat since December last year.

And that road has not always been quite so easy for Pally, I am sure she won’t mind me saying, when she first joined as a client she found the nutrition side of things quite difficult. So Pally, if you could give me a bit more information about that please?

Pally: When I first started, we went through the nutrition and I looked at it and I actually literally got scared, thinking “How am I going to do this?” I am a nurse so I work night shifts and I have a little one as well, so it was hard to try and juggle it and to try and get the diet plan in place. It was very difficult - I struggled a lot with it for the first few weeks. I literally just could not get my head round it. I couldn’t get it at all.

Josh:   So what were your daily habits back then, what was a typical day for you?

Pally: My day started with cereal – which was a total wrong to start off with! – and then sometimes I would skip lunch and just snack; then I’d always try and aim to have a good dinner, but then that included my carbs, so I used to have jacket potato or chips. That was my typical day and I wouldn’t drink as much water as I do now – and I’d live on tea.

Josh:   Ok, so was there anything that kind of changed in your mind around December that made you think, “I can do this, I can tackle this obstacle”?

DVCC_60_of_82Pally: We’d been on holiday in November and I was looking at the pictures and was quite disgusted with my own pictures!

I think I just got into my head then that I really need to try; I am trying with the exercise, I need to try with the nutrition side. I spoke to my husband about it and he was a great help, he really helped me change my mind.

Josh:   Good, I’m glad. So talk to me about the difference in your day now; what is the typical day of food for you now?

Pally: Well, my day starts with the apple cider vinegar first thing in the morning, with some water. And then I’ll have an omelette with courgette and green tea and then I take my two capsules of fish oil. And then after I work out I will have my green tea and some almonds; then for lunch I’ll either have grilled chicken or boiled eggs with salad, and my dinner would be grilled chicken or lamb with my veg and salad.

In between, I will just drink water and my green tea and for a snack I eat almonds.

Josh:   Great stuff. So do you feel like it is still a big obstacle for you or has it become somewhat routine for you to do this now?

Pally: It’s routine; I don’t even notice it now, it’s just like a daily routine; It is not a hassle at all.

Josh:   Good; and how does it make you feel, doing that?

Pally:  It’s really good; it just flows in my daily life, I don’t have to go out of my way to do things.

Josh:   Good, it’s nice to hear, and the results speak for themselves, which is another great thing.

So there is a little snippet of what Pally has done now and how her *life is different; because a lot of the time when you start a new fitness routine, it’s not the easiest thing and there are some obstacles that you are going to have to tackle.

BUT Pally here is proof that consistency and hard work get results at the end of the day. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t get things initially – keep trying and, like Pally, it will happen for you. So Pally, have you got any message or anything that you would like to say to people that might be in the position that you were in when you first started?

Pally:  Never give up, keep going – it does work out.

Josh:   That’s Josh and Pally from the DVCC; thank you very much for listening.
