20lbs in 7 Weeks.. Awesome From Becky!

Case Study, Weight loss

Josh: Hi, this is Josh from the DVCC, and I am here with Becky Colabuono, who has been with the DVCC for a few months now. She has *lost a significant amount of fat in that time and I would like to chat to her and find out what actions she implemented to help her achieve those amazing results, then hopefully others will be able to take some advice from her story and make it help you on your fat *loss journey.

First things first, Becky, how old are you?

Becky: I am 23 years old.

Josh: We have just literally had a progress tracker right now; how much weight, or fat, have you *lost?

Becky: In total, over 20 lbs.

Josh: And how long did it take you to *lose over 20 lbs?

Becky: 7 weeks.

Josh: 7 weeks, that is awesome! In dress size, how much have you dropped?

Becky: I am down one dress size.

Josh: Good for you! Let’s go back to before you first started at DVCC; how did you first put on the weight?

Becky: My boyfriend moved 150 miles away, so I had long drives to visit him, with fast food on the way; then I got to see him only on the weekends, so we would go out for dinner, go out for a drink, go out for a dinner… etc!

Josh: Convenience food then?

Becky: Yes.

Josh: Did it happen over a long period of time?

Becky: Yes, the weight came on over about a year.

Josh: Did you notice your weight going up?

Becky: No I didn’t, until my mum started coming to DVCC and began *losing weight. I then thought “uh oh, I’ve got to do something”. Its time.

Josh: What went through your mind then - did you see your mum *losing fat? What changed your mind?

Becky: I just wanted to do the same as my mum. Also, looking at old pictures and not being able to fit into my clothes.Rebecca_C

Josh: I know, from speaking to your mum, Helen, that you started following some of the same nutritional advice that we had taught your mum and she was implementing, even before you started here. So you actually had some success even before you started training here.

Becky: Yes I did.

Josh: What was the first step that made you think you would start training as well?

Becky: It was just seeing my mum’s results, and then she brought me in on “bring a buddy” week; it just went on from there.

Josh: When you compare yourself - Becky before the DVCC, and Becky after, what are the main differences for you – such as in your daily routine, in your mindset, etc?

Becky: I don’t know really, I just think that everything is lots better – I am happier, sleep better, wake up better, and I probably do a better job at work.

Josh: So, a lot more than just the fat *loss?

Becky: Yes, the fat *loss becomes a minor thing after a while; you just feel much better in yourself.

Josh: That is awesome, really good to hear! Can you explain in a little more detail about you being better at work, because I’m very interested to hear about that?

Becky: (laughing): Well, with the new diet, I probably don’t go out drinking as much – so less hangovers!

Josh: That always helps!

Becky: Yes – I think my manager is pretty happy!

Josh: Good! In terms of energy level – is it more constant – for example, no more afternoon slumps or things like that?

Becky: No, I have so much more energy now.

Josh: I expect a congratulations card when you get that promotion!

How quickly did you form those habits when you first started here? Did you find it easy to take on board, or was it difficult?

Becky: The first two weeks were awful! They really are the hardest thing I have ever done.

Josh: But you did it really well.

Becky: Yes, but I had to be really disciplined; I knew from seeing my mum, what the results could look like, so I was really focused and wanted to do what she had done. So it was easy to concentrate, but probably the most difficult two weeks ever.

Josh: This is the metabolic damage solution – so essentially, you could eat only green vegetables.

Becky: Yes – I pretty much turned green!

Josh: And a testament to how well Becky stuck to this; aside from the protein, you can eat anything that runs, swims, flies or is green; I actually had a photograph sent to me of Becky’s dinner – she had a salad and had actually left out all the red leaves because she wasn’t sure if she could eat them, because they weren’t green! This is a testament to her and I think the results speak for themselves.

Becky: Better to be safe than sorry!

Josh: Now, after that first two weeks, do you find it easier?

Becky: Loads easier; I don’t even think about it.

Josh: So it’s just part of your daily *life now?

Becky: Yes it is

Josh: Has that impacted things outside of work as well, friends etc?

Becky: No – it is just making better choices; I still go out with friends and go for dinner, but I just don’t choose chips and things like that.

Josh: Awesome – so do you find it easy to do then?

Becky: Yes – I don’t feel like I am missing out any more. I think the first two weeks you feel you are missing out, like if you see a cake you want it and if you can’t have it you feel really upset. But now, not so much.

Josh: I know you are busy, what with work, and travelling to see your boyfriend etc; so being able to maintain that on the go, some people might feel is quite a difficult thing to do. How have you managed to do it?

Becky: Planning meals; I take salad with me; I have a bag of carrots that I will take around with me to eat for snacks.

Josh: So planning ahead is the key.

Becky: Yes.

Josh: For other people listening to this – what has been the hardest thing about maintaining the habits you have now?

Becky: I don’t really know – nothing – I don’t find it hard any more. I think the only thing that’s hard is that sometimes I get home from work and I think about coming to DVCC – not that it’s bad coming here, but having to drag yourself back out of the house is hard sometimes.

Josh: Do you manage to do it all the time?

Becky: I come here every day! This is session five of the week.

Josh: This is session five of the week and it is Thursday, which is pretty good if you ask me!

Lastly, before we close, what advice would you give to someone who is in the position you were in before you started?

Becky: Just don’t be afraid to go and try it. I was so worried to come here before I came, because you think you can’t do it but you can. I have become stronger since I have been here – it only gets easier.

Josh: Good for you. That’s been Josh and this has been Becky – hopefully you have been able to take in some of her advice and some of the things that have helped her, and can implement them into your *life to help your fat *loss. Good luck!
