Injury Affecting Your Confidence? Read This!

If you’ve injured your (INSERT MUSCLE OR BODY PART HERE) then chances are that you are thinking about taking some time off from training to recover…Well today we are going to be discussing why that is actually one of the WORST thing you can possibly do for your fitness goals!

It is very rare that if you’ve injured a part of your body that there is nothing else that you can still do to help build your strength and keep yourself training.

For example, if you have a shoulder that is out of action, don't forget that you still have another arm and two legs which are working just fine and need training too!

At The DVCC, that is why all of our trainers are experts in rehabilitation, meaning that we are able to adapt any exercise to suit your needs. We will sit down with you, or work alongside your physiotherapist in order to create a personalised plan that works for you. Just take a look at some of our clients who suffered with injuries, but were still able to train!

But we know that 'just getting on with it' is far easier said than done. If you're recovering from an injury or operation, then chances are your confidence has taken a bit of a blow too!

It can be scary returning to a regular gym routine again, which is why you do need to do it at your own pace. However, by stopping doing any form of exercise, you will most likely find that you only feel worse than you did before because:

A) You will be losing muscle tone and strength in the rest of your body, making you feel weaker and demotivated. If you stop your regular training routine, it will also be much harder to get back into the swing of things once you recover!

B) By not exercising, you won’t be getting that endorphin release and will not be doing anything TOWARDS your recovery.

The best way for damaged muscles to recover is to still keep them active in any way you can. By taking back control of your recovery and staying moving, you will be able to keep building your confidence back up and will also only be speeding up your recovery process!
