Why Dark Chocolate Is Healthy

Weight loss, Fat Loss, Chocolate

Who would have thought it - Chocolate and Healthy in the same sentence!

As long as you eat dark chocolate in moderation, it can be very good for your health.

First of all, dark chocolate has a huge amount of antioxidants, which help protect your body from inflammation and also slow down the ageing process.

Dark chocolate also makes you more sensitive to insulin (the fat storage hormone). This will allow your body to deal with sugar in the bloodstream in a much more effective way. The more sensitive to insulin you become, the lesser the chance of developing diabetes.

Bad cholesterol has been shown to be positively affected by those who consume small amounts of dark chocolate frequently, while increasing the amount of good cholesterol. This leads to a decreased risk of heart disease; when your cholesterol balance improves, it lessens your chances of plaque build up, which clogs arteries.

Dark chocolate also provides a great amount of nutrients which many people don't consume enough of. Within dark chocolate you will find magnesium, zinc, iron and potassium.

The key with dark chocolate is consuming small amounts of it. Try and have less than 50 grams per serving and go for a chocolate bar which contains a minimum of 70% cocoa. Anything less than 70% will usually have high amounts of sugar and milk added.
