What’s The Worst Way to Start My Day?

Water, Carbs, Healthy Foods, Healthy Eating

If you ever listened to your Mum, she probably told you that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. Well, in our opinion, she was right. So what’s the absolute worst way you can start your day? By skipping breakfast completely.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you need to make sure you get it right

A good breakfast sets you up for the day and if you make wise nutritional choices, releases energy slowly. Energy that kids need to concentrate and get good results at school.

Energy that adults need to not fall asleep at their desk’s at 4 O’ Clock. But how can you get the most out of this all-important meal?

Avoid Processed Foods

We all do it. Whether for convenience or simply because we enjoy it. But eating breakfast outside of the home means you have fewer choices available to you. And they’re almost always processed foods that are high in sugar and poor quality carbohydrates. Breakfasting out every now and again isn’t going to do you any harm, but making it a daily habit isn’t healthy.

Stopping at McDonalds for breakfast every day is not good for your waistline or your wallet

Avoid Bad Carbs

The worst foods you can have or give to your children are foods that are high in poor quality carbs. You might not see what’s wrong with a croissant, pastry or muffin, but they’re packed with sugar and refined carbs. This combination leaves your tummy temporarily full before lethargy starts to creep in and you’ll probably be hungry again not long afterwards.

Drink Plenty of Water

What’s even worse than skipping breakfast or eating the wrong things? Not drinking water or having a fizzy drink instead. After eight hours of sleeping, your body’s pretty dehydrated when you wake up and you need water to kick-start your system and flush out toxins.

So if you want to start your day off as badly as possible, don’t drink water and grab a chocolate chip muffin.

Our Pick?

Choose a breakfast option that’s high in protein and good quality fat, like an omelette with avocado

Seen that on a McDonalds menu lately?
