The reason many women store fat in the lower half of their body is a natural phenomenon driven by various hormones, where men typically store fat around the chest, women typically store it around their legs and lower body. This is a completely natural process and definitely not something you should be alarmed about.

The first thing to remember is that you can’t lose weight from a specific area by doing certain exercises for that area. It’s a common thought that, if I only work my legs, they will get thinner… That is not the way it works I'm afraid. Instead, the opposite will likely happen, you will still be storing fat there, but because of the additional toning, they will actually only seem to be getting bigger!

That's why you need to focus on encouraging fat loss from that area in particular. A good way to do this is to focus your attention on your hormone management. By detoxifying your body of various forms of estrogens, you’ll be far more likely to shift the existing fat from your lower body.

One way you can start detoxifying is simply by trying to eat as many cruciferous, green leafy vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower as possible each day. It’s pretty difficult to overeat vegetables, so by making them a priority, you’ll be helping your body detoxify lower body fat storing estrogens.

Once you’ve managed to do so, then you can focus on your lower body muscle toning, some excellent leg toning exercises are: Squats, split jumps and lunges. All are easy, require no equipment and will give you the muscle tone that you’re searching for.



Start by making these few small changes and before you know it, you'll be ready to rock those summer shorts and feel great about your legs again!
