Trapped in a low-calorie diet? Here’s how you go back to eating normally!

Nutrition, Weight loss, Diet, Calories

Being on a low-calorie diet can feel a little like being in a bad relationship… Tough to get out of and every now again, you ask "what did I first see in this?!"

If you want to get out of an unsustainable diet but are worried about regaining all of the weight you’ve lost, there are a few solutions to get you back to eating healthily and minimising the impact on your body.

First things first though… YOU CAN’T DO IT IN ONE DAY.

Here’s the brutal honesty, you will put on SOME weight. Because your body has become used to not having much to run on, it has adapted to those conditions, and so when you introduce food back into your diet, your metabolism will be out of sync.

So instead of thinking that you can go back to normal eating overnight, it’s important to instead try to slowly readapt your body to consume a healthy amount of food again.

If you’re doing a shake diet, for example, a good place to start would be to introduce a healthy fat and protein breakfast, to begin with. Try doing this for just a week or two and see how your body adjusts. If nothing changes, or you are beginning to feel full of energy again, then the next step would be to steadily introduce a small healthy dinner. Try this for another week or two and repeat over and over until you’ve managed to build up a sustainable routine which works for you.

Getting out of a low-calorie diet is no easy task, however, if you are patient with yourself and avoid binge eating, the results will be well worth it!
