Lacking time to prepare healthy meals

Men and women over 40 often have a lot of other responsibilities in their lives, such as work or caring for family members, that can make it difficult to find the time to plan and cook nutritious meals.

Our tip

Prepare your meals in advance. No need to do everything, variety is the spice of life after all! Lunches are a great place to start. Change it up every week and prepare up to a week worth in

advance to save time and energy.

 

Unhealthy cravings

As people get older they tend to be surrounded by, and therefore crave, more unhealthy food. This can make it much harder to stick with a structured, healthy diet.

Our tip

Avoid buying the healthy treats in the first place, or at worst, keep them out of sight. Out of sight, out of mind as they say! Simple and effective. If it’s not there, you can’t eat it.

 

Decrease physical activity

With age can come decreased energy levels which will contribute to less physical activity. This affects overall nutrition needs since active individuals require different nutrient requirements than those who are sedentary most days of the week.

Our tip

Finding a supportive community around the activity will help you stick to it! If you enjoy something the thought of dragging yourself there is a thing of the past. Be it a gym, run club, hiking, cycling or just getting out to walk the dog, it’s all going to do you a world of good!

 

Poor knowledge on Nutrition

Many men and women over 40 may not be aware of the latest nutritional guidelines or how certain foods affect their health. This can lead them to make poor food choices that are not beneficial for their overall health and wellness goals.
