With Christmas fast approaching, chances are, you have began casting your sights towards 2020…What do you want to achieve this year? Weight loss? Setting a new personal best? Getting that promotion?

Whatever your goals are, the first step towards making 2020 YOUR YEAR is a can do attitude!

Now, armed with that attitude, here are the top 3 things that we recommend you can start doing RIGHT NOW to help make 2020 is your best year ever!

FOCUS ON HABITS, NOT GOALS

Remember those goals that we mentioned at the start…Forget them (Sort of). Around this time of year, we all get ourselves flustered about setting New Years Resolutions that can seem too big to manage. Then we panic and give up on them.

Perhaps you want to lose 30lbs, run a marathon, or start your own company. These are NOT overnight goals and whilst it can seem tempting to get into the mindset of achieving these goals quickly, instead, you should try focusing on achieving them sustainably!

Here’s a more sustainable approach.

Instead of purely focusing on an end goal, shift your attention to implementing the small, daily HABITS that are going to help get you there. Let's say you want to lose a large amount of weight, instead of focusing on the number on the scales, set yourself small daily habits that you can achieve every day.

For example, win the day by drinking a certain amount of water and eating a high protein, healthy fat breakfast. Then once you've integrated those habits into your life, set yourself the next habit to focus on, whilst maintaining the one you've started…Pretty soon you’ll find yourself dropping pounds and
progressing towards your goal every day!

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

It's important to know if all of the habits that we outlined in step #1 are actually taking you closer to your goals. A great way to keep an eye on your progress is to keep a record on how far you have come. Perhaps start a chart recording your progress! (Everyone loves a good graph!)

That being said, tracking shouldn't be a daily process, just keeping an eye on various measurements once a week or once a month is more than enough.

Also, make sure not to become too reliant on just one measurement of success (i.e scale weight)... If it is weight loss you are focusing on, keep an eye on things such as your strength levels, body fat percentage etc, you will soon see that fitness (and almost any project worth pursuing) is not a linear process and things change all the time!

So there you have it, by following those 3 simple tips, you will be well on your way to staying on top of your 2020 goals and make sure that this year WILL be your most successful year EVER!
