4 Simple Tips To Supercharge Your Immune System!

As we do begin to head towards the winter months, it’s important to keep your immune system in check!

Of course everyone has their own ‘tips’ and ‘tricks’ to boosting your immune system, so today we wanted to wash away the mystery of the immune system and give you 4 super simple, super actionable tips to help you ACTUALLY improve your body’s resistance!

1) GET SOME SLEEP!

Sleep is often one of the most overlooked parts of the immune system, but one of the most important! Did you know that during sleep, your body releases proteins called cytokines.

Certain cytokines are needed when you have an infection or inflammation as they act as chemical messengers for letting your body know there is an antigen and to the initiate the adaptive immune systems to fight it. Sleep deprivation decreases the production of these protective proteins!

2) HYDRATE

It’s important all of the time, but especially during cold and flu season!

Drinking water on a regular basis, helps keep your immunity up as it helps your body naturally eliminate toxins and other bacteria that may cause illness. Aim to drink 2-3 litres of water per day!

3) EXERCISE!

Sure, we’re a little biased, but the evidence says it all! Physical activity plays a huge part in keeping your immune system up and running! Not only does it help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. but exercise also causes key change in antibodies and your  white blood cells which are designed to help neutralise infection or illness!

4) UP YOUR VITAMIN D

Almost all of us in the UK are actually deficient in Vitamin D (we don’t get much sun after all!)

But Vitamin D is a crucial part in the activation of the ‘T cells’ of the immune system. These are the part of your immune system that keep your body primed to stave off infection!

The best way to boost your vitamin D levels is to supplement them! Just ensure you go for a high IU count!

Of course there are also a TONNE of other tips and tricks that you can try, but there's no point in doing something if it's not sustainable! Once you manage to get these four tips in place, then you can begin expanding your horizons!
