How Can I Stop My Unhealthy Cravings?

We all get cravings from time to time. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t. But actually, once you start to develop healthier eating habits, you’ll probably find that slice of cake or piece of pizza just don’t seem so appealing anymore.

That said. Whether it’s the smell of freshly baked bread that gets your stomach rumbling or an advert on the tele, a craving can come out of nowhere. So what’s the best way to stop it?

Tomato Soup and Veggies

Yep. You heard right. It might sound a bit strange, but in our experience, most of your cravings probably come because you’re hungry and not eating enough. Not because you really want or need that (insert sinful snack of your choice here).

The fibrous combination of tomato soup plus a ton of steamed veggies work wonders to stop cravings in their tracks. You can also eat away to your heart’s content without worrying about putting on extra pounds.

Anything Else?

Making sure that you start the day out right with a healthy breakfast that’s high in protein and good fats (like an omelette and avocado) will also help. You need to concentrate on eating foods that release their energy throughout the day slowly, so they’ll prolong that feeling of satisfaction for a lot longer.

99.9% of cravings are in our heads. That’s scientifically proven.

So far, the only major nutrient that’s actually been connected with cravings in humans is iron. So, if you have cravings for any other reason, it’s highly unlikely that you’re deficient in sugar or low in salt.

And if you’re dying for a hamburger, it probably doesn’t mean you’re lacking iron either. When people are iron deficient they start to crave really, really weird things like ice and cement.

So mind over matter when it comes to cravings and follow this simple recipe: Soup + Vegetables = Done.
