How to make sure you hit your target weight for your wedding day!

The big day is approaching! Congratulations! One of the most common reasons people begin their fitness journeys is because of their wedding day! It is an incredibly exciting, nerve-racking and emotional day, and you want to look your best!

If you have a desired dress in mind or want to hit a certain weight before the big day, here’s what you need to be doing to make sure you look great, feel great and enjoy the day as much as possible!

Focus on body fat

Remember how we said you might be wanting to hit a certain ‘weight’? well. The first thing you need to do is throw that number out of the window. Instead, turn your attention to your body fat percentage.

By today’s standards, it is unbelievably easy to become fixated around your weight and what the scales tell you, usually leading many to starve themselves or become disheartened every time they step on them… Instead, a far healthier way to look at things is to focus on your body fat, here’s why:

You could be the 11 stone lady at 20% body fat or an 11 stone lady at 30% body fat.

The 20% lady is going to look 10 times more athletic and more healthy than the lady at a 30% body fat. Both of them weigh 11 stone so you would think that perhaps they’d look similar. But, body fat is really what matters and what counts in terms of how you’re going to look in your dress, how you’re going to feel on your honeymoon. And also, how healthy you’re going to be!

Planning!

Chances are that wedding planning is already taking over your life, but consider your own fitness as part of it! In the same way that you might book the venue a year or two in advance, book in your health plan!

If you save it to the last minute to start losing weight, you’re going to crash diet to get there and actually, what can happen is you’re going to lose just as much muscle as you do fat when you do that. This essentially means that your overall your body fat percentage is going to go up. If your dress shows any kind of skin, like your arms, if you’ve lost muscle, you’ll find that your arms aren’t as toned. They won’t look as sleek as if you were focusing mainly on body fat rather than just the weight.

A lot of people start preparing for their wedding around 9 months in advance, this is a good place to start, however, the longer you can start in advance, the better results you are going to have! Start by introducing just 2 intense, resistance based workouts into your week.

You’re going to look a lot better on your wedding day if you do it gradually. You will increase your muscle tone and you’ll lose your body fat.

A lot of people who do crash diet find that by the time their wedding comes, because their body is so starved, they are feeling really low on energy and are actually feeling pretty grouchy on the big day!

So don’t leave everything to the last minute! If you want to look your best on your big day, start planning your fitness regime as soon as you can! You will be feeling as confident as you can!
