Find Out How Kev Found The Motivation To Get In The Best Shape He Has Been In Years!

Motivation, Case Study, Exercise, Weight loss

Greg: Hi, this is Greg from the DVCC Northampton and today I’m joined by Kevin Brown. So Kev, how long have you been with the DVCC now?

Kevin: I joined at the end of July, I think about 27th July, so 2.5 months.

Greg: In that time, what kind of *results have you had?

Kevin: Pretty good actually; close to *20lbs of fat gone, *6lbs of muscle on and I haven’t been a saint during that period, so very good results.

Greg:  So *20lbs of fat in about 9 weeks – awesome, that’s really good. Can you recall what initially brought you to the DVCC?

Kevin: My wife was a member here, she’s been a member since February, and I came and gave it a try in early July before I was travelling; I felt that I needed to *lose some weight and get a bit fitter.

Greg: You say you felt like you needed to *lose weight – was there a certain point that made you feel like that?

Kevin: Yes, I just wasn’t very happy with my appearance and obviously felt very lethargic most of the time. I suffered with a few joint problems, historically from sports, so I wanted to do something to try and improve my general wellbeing and feeling.

Greg: With the joints you mentioned, did you notice an improvement in those since you started?

Kevin: Yes I have, massively, certainly the knee and the back which are the main areas, are actually improved and are much more flexible. And I actually find if I don’t exercise, they stiffen up, so it’s almost necessary for me to exercise to keep them flexible.

Greg: Ok, so before joining the DVCC, had you tried any other training or nutrition or anything to solve this problem?

Kevin: Yes, in short bursts. Prior to getting married in February I did a spell of spinning which *lost me a bit of weight, but I didn’t think it gained me all round fitness. And periodically we would go to the gym and I’ve got some gym equipment at home, but all very sporadic and when I felt like it rather than consistently.

Greg: What do you think would have been the reason for the inconsistency?

Kevin: Laziness…

Greg: Just not having the motivation to do it?

Kevin: Yes, no motivation to do it, yes.

Greg: And you feel that’s changed now?

Kevin: Yes, massively, I find the DVCC very motivational. Even last night I didn’t come in and I’m texting Greg to say sorry for not coming in! Which is really good, so I feel really motivated to come here and the guys here are motivational; they push you.

Greg: Good. So what convinced you that the Real You transformation process, or the DVCC in general, would be different to anything you’ve tried before?

Kevin: I think it’s the fact that it’s in small numbers, it’s very personalised, there’s a lot of interest in you personally and the people that come here are not all perfect gym people; they’re from all walks of life, all trying to achieve something different. Yes, it’s a good mix of people and you don’t feel intimidated when you come here.

Greg: Had you previously felt intimidated in other gyms?

Kevin: Not as an individual but I can see that a lot of other people would be. Going to a gym where everybody’s looking lean and mean and you’re a bit overweight and a bit unfit. But here, there’s such a good mix of people, young, old, male, female, fat, thin – everybody trying to do something.

New Call-to-action

Greg: Yes, there’s not a bad atmosphere in here.

Kevin: No, it’s a very good atmosphere and I’ve made a lot of new friends here as well, which is quite cool as well.

Greg: So how has your life changed since you started at the DVCC?

Kevin: Certainly in terms of fitness and health; you think more about what you eat, you certainly drink less, because every pint of beer you think I’ve got to go and work that off the next day or the next week! So it’s definitely a mental thing as well as a physical thing. I think that’s the key to it, the chats that we have with the guys here make you think about what you’re doing outside of actually coming here. And it’s a combination of that, diet and coming here regularly that’s a winner.

Greg: Good – it’s important to be thinking outside of here because you spend most of your time outside of here!

Kevin: Correct – at the end of the day it’s a short session; you’re doing half an hour. I try to do between 5 and 10 times a week which is quite intensive, but there’s a lot of time when you’re not here. I travel quite a bit where you could easily overdo it and then undo all the good work you’ve done.

Greg: Yes, definitely. The results you’ve had, as you say you wanted to improve how lethargic you felt?

Kevin: Yes, I think it’s the endorphins that it releases, especially the morning sessions. Again this morning, I got up – it’s Saturday morning, I don’t really want to go, but I know that in an hour’s time I’m going to be feeling great, so that’s what pushes you to come. It’s a 12 mile drive for me so it is quite an effort to get out of bed on a Saturday morning and come, but I know full well by 9.30 I’m going to be feeling really good and ready to enjoy the day.

Greg: Good. Have you noticed that has carried over into most of your days, with work or anything like that?

Kevin: Yes, definitely. You go to work more alert, more alive, more awake and feeling a lot more positive.

Greg: That’s always going to be beneficial. Have you got an example of anything that’s happened – any results you’ve had – that you thought may not be possible before you started?

Kevin: Yes – I think the DVCC owe me quite a bit of money for a new wardrobe! Because I’ve dropped two inches off my waist in 9 weeks and the shirt sizes and everything else, so it’s been quite dramatic. Whereas when I’ve *lost weight before it’s not really changed my shape and my wardrobe – so thanks for the new wardrobe guys!

Greg: It’s not a bad problem to have! Any final words for me, Kev?

Kevin: I just think anyone who is listening to this should give it a shot, because it’s definitely worth doing. I’ve never seen anything that’s been so good at getting results quickly and I’ve only been here 9 weeks; I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 42-43 weeks will bring, in this full year.

Greg: It’s going to be very exciting.

Kevin: Yes indeed, yes.

Greg: Thank you very much Kev. If you have been listening to this spotlight interview and you would like to find out more about how the DVCC can help you, then please book an appointment for a DVCC Right Fit phone call at www.theDVCC.com/signup.
