Eggs Are Good For You!

Fat, Health, Weight loss, Eggs, Muscle Gain, Heart disease

There are many myths surrounding eggs.

eggs-spartanBut fear not, egg lovers, as eggs are a healthy source of protein and natural fats and have been given a undeserved bad reputation.

There is so much misguided information about eggs: you should only have 3 a week, don't eat the yolk, they increase your cholesterol which increases your risk of heart disease and they are high in protein which isn't good for your health - to mention just a few.

First of all, there has never been any scientific research which proves that having higher cholesterol increases your risk of heart disease, ever.

Eggs do contain saturated fat and cholesterol. The cholesterol that is raised from eating eggs is HDL (high density lipoprotein), which is a cardio protective cholesterol.

New Call-to-action

Eating foods which are high in cholesterol doesn't increase the amount of cholesterol in your blood. The body produces less cholesterol when you consume these foods; and when you don't consume these foods it produces more, to keep a healthy balance in your body.

Coronary-Heart-DiseaseThe real danger, if you are worried about heart disease, is refined carbohydrates and refined fats, which are more to blame for the build up of plaque within the arteries, which can lead to heart disease.

You need not worry about salmonella poisoning as long as you are eating high quality eggs (I used to eat raw eggs regularly before I researched and found that raw eggs hold little benefit over cooked ones; although I did feel like Rocky Balboa while eating them!). When hens are not looked after correctly and live in a dirty environment, the eggs are more likely to become contaminated with salmonella. If you are going to eat eggs regularly, you should aim to eat cage free omega 3 eggs.

Eggs are one of the most nutrient packed food sources on earth. They are high in antioxidants which help to reduce inflammation within the body, as well as amino acids which your body needs to rebuild muscle tissue - a basic requirement for survival.

Eggs contain choline, which helps the liver remove toxins and avoid fat storage, which is important for a healthy liver. Fat in the liver is in no way whatsoever desirable.

There have been various studies which show that people who eat 3 whole eggs for breakfast each day (while keeping carbohydrate intake low) eat less calories throughout the rest of the day and are more likely to lose body fat, decrease inflammation and promote their overall health.

If you are going to start eating eggs for breakfast, try them poached or boiled, as this is a very healthy way of cooking them. If you want to have an omelette, scrambled or fried eggs, opt for coconut oil as your cooking oil over everything else, as this has a high smoke point and is a very healthy natural fat to cook with for fat loss.
