Today we have a question from Molly..

Is weight the best way to track your progress and how important is it to do this?

When taking any aspect of life tracking progress is always going to be a clear indication of where you have come and gives your clear measures to where you want to be. Whether in business, personal life or the gym tracking progress will help you to outline what is and isn't currently working.

Here at the DVCC we use our Inbody Analysis machine to track the progress of each client related to their total body weight, body fat percentage and muscle mass.

Not only is it important to track progress to see what is and isn't currently working but it also allows for clients to remember just how far they have come. We can sometimes forget where we started and instead grade ourselves on where we ultimately want to be rather than identifying the progressions we have made. Fitness is a journey and can take time and tracking allows for us to remain focused and motivated.

Progress tracking can come in many forms from monitoring weight to physical testing and what works for one may not be the best option for somebody else.

However, at the DVCC we find that by breaking the weight down through our Inbody Analysis machine we get a much clearer assessment. When looking at  tracking through weight taking the total weight is not always the most accurate method as this does not take into consideration fat and muscle loss.

At the centres a common result to begin with is to see weight not change but fat percentage to reduce and muscle mass to increase. This means that by using scales and taking only body weight it may appear that what you are doing is ineffective when in reality you are losing body fat and adding muscle.

This is Ryan, from the DVCC. Have a healthy day.

Do you feel intimidated by normal gyms?

The big box impersonal gyms leave you feeling awkward, and lacking motivation to lose weight and get fit.

The Training Gyms is for men and women who want to lose weight, get fit but don't want to do it in a normal big box gym.

We know it's important. We just don't know where to start.
