Today we have a question from Gavin.

Gavin asks: Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day?

Great question Gav, thanks for asking.

Breakfast is a very important meal for fat loss and muscle gain.

There are a few reasons for this:

Firstly, it sets up your hormones for the day and regulates your metabolism correctly for fat loss;

Ideally you want to eat a low carb, high fat and high protein breakfast every day. This is a great start to your day and it will allow your blood sugar levels to rise and fall a lot slower than a bowl of Cocopops or Frosties would do. This means that your body will be more likely to burn fat for fuel rather than sugar.

Having a high fat and high protein breakfast will also keep you feeling fuller for longer as it will take longer to digest than carbs.

Some great breakfast choices would be: salmon and eggs, eggs and avocado, or bacon and avocado. If you are super desperate to eat and are stuck for time, a protein shake with a handful of nuts would be a good choice.

Our question of the week to you is: What do you eat for breakfast?

This is Nathan, from the DVCC.

Have a healthy day.
