Today’s question is from Rupert: “What are the best supplements for weight loss?”

Great question, Rupert.

The number 1 supplement we tend to recommend at the DVCC is fish oil.

By taking fish oil, you are going to accelerate fat loss by increasing your insulin sensitivity, meaning when you eat carbohydrates you use them to deliver nutrients to the muscle as opposed to storing them as fat.

Fish oil will also help reduce inflammation and joint pain, meaning that you can train for longer and harder within the training sessions that you take part in.

It will also lower blood pressure and improve your health.

The second supplement we recommend is magnesium.

Magnesium promotes a better quality of sleep and, as we’ve mentioned in other videos, increased sleep can increase growth hormone production and in general be very good for your health.

It will also help reduce carb cravings, meaning that if you are on a low carbohydrate diet, you will be less likely to reach for that chocolate bar; it will also reduce cortisol levels, which is your stress hormone and has an inverse relationship with testosterone. If you have well regulated cortisol levels you are for more likely to hit your goals.

The last supplement we highly recommend is protein.

Protein can help repair your muscle after you’ve finished training. Whenever we train at the DVCC, and if you’re training anywhere with weights, you’re creating muscle damage. In order to repair that muscle and increase your metabolism your body needs adequate protein.

Whey protein is very quickly absorbed which means having it directly post workout is the best for optimal results.
