DVCC Transformation Expert Nathan Has Undergone His Own Transformation. Read The Top 3 Things He Thinks You Should Do To Lose Weight

Health, Nutrition, Weight loss, Protein, Fish Oil, Anaerobic

Lewis: Hi, I’m Lewis from the DVCC and today I’m here with Nathan, the client experience manager from DVCC Milton Keynes, and I’d like to ask him what his top three tips for fat loss are.

How are you Nathan?

Nathan:   Very good Lewis – yourself?

Lewis: Yes, very good, thank you. So, what are your tips?

Nathan: Scrambled-eggs-and-smoked-salmon  My first tip would be to have a high fat and high protein breakfast, because having a high fat and high protein breakfast will help you to regulate your blood sugar levels and regulate your hormones; it will also keep you feeling fuller for longer.

So a high protein and high fat breakfast would be something along the lines of eggs and avocado or eggs and salmon or any kind or protein source, so any meat, and a form of natural fats such as nuts, avocadoes or some coconut oils.

Lewis: Very good advice, I’m a very good fan of bacon myself in the morning.

And what is your second tip?

Nathan: omega_3_fatty_acids  My second tip would be to consume some fish oil. Fish oil is very beneficial for helping people to accelerate their fat loss. It basically increases your sensitivity to insulin; when you increase your sensitivity to insulin it means that if you were to eat something that is more carbohydrate based and has a bit of sugar in it, your body reacts to the sugar and uses the sugar in a more beneficial way.

It is also very beneficial for health because it has been shown to have a great effect on almost every disease known to man; it lowers your blood pressure and also reduces inflammation caused by bad lifestyle habits and choices or excessive training.

Lewis: Fantastic advice; of course you can get DVCC fish oil from the centres.

And what is your third tip, Nathan?

Nathan:  DVCC2of82 My third tip would be to favour anaerobic exercise and interval type training over long bouts of cardiovascular training. Basically, when you train and if you were to do aerobic training, so something like jogging for long distances and long periods, it increases your cortisol hormone which is your stress hormone.

When your cortisol hormone gets too high, a couple of things happen: first it produces a breakdown in muscle, so basically when you start breaking down muscle, your body isn’t going to have as much muscle and therefore you don’t burn as much fat at rest.

Also, cortisol encourages the release of insulin, the fat storage hormone, which will actually block your body’s ability to burn fat. So to get the best results from exercise, the best thing to do, if you are going to do cardio you want to do short, very intense bursts, for up to 20 minutes.

Lewis: Ok, fantastic advice. This has been Lewis at the DVCC with Nathan; have a great day.
