Do You Find Fitting In Exercise And Nutrition Around Shift Work Difficult? Read On To Find Out How Jon did it

Case Study, Nutrition, Weight loss, Training

Matthew: Hi, this is Matthew from the DVCC and I’m here with Jon Huddle. I’m just going to ask you a few questions, hopefully to get an insight into how you’ve got such great results.

Jon

So if you could please introduce yourself, and tell us how old you are and how long you have been at the DVCC?

Jon: Hi, my name is Jon; I’ve been at the DVCC for six months now, and I’m 35 years old.

Matthew: Fantastic. If you could just please tell us, what results you have achieved since being at the DVCC?

Jon: Since being at the DVCC, my fat weight, I’ve *lost 11.6lbs, my lean weight has gone up by 7.9lbs and my body fat is down, I’ve *lost about 5.2% body fat.

Matthew: Exactly 5.2%, good from you – well done. So first of all, can you tell us what kind of difficulties you have had, as I’m sure there are literally thousands of people who found themselves in the same position as you were?

Jon: Difficulties as in…?

Matthew: As in before you were at the DVCC?

Jon: It was just getting into a routine of finding time to go to the gym. And then when you get to the gym you just do the same things that you’re comfortable with and don’t really push yourself to gain results that you perhaps could do.

Matthew: What were your struggles with weight *loss before the DVCC?

Jon: I suppose I was doing the right exercises, but I was focused on the wrong things really, because I just thought if I went to the gym and just got on the treadmill or the cross trainer and just blasted it for half an hour, that would do.

Then once you come to DVCC you realise that short intense workouts, and obviously what you eat, is quite important as well, to balance it out.

Matthew: Ok, fantastic. Have you tried *losing weight before?

Jon: Yes I’ve tried.

Matthew: How often?

Jon: Tried every year really. Probably in the last year I really decided I wanted to *lose weight. I thought I was quite fit, I just wanted to get my body weight down – and it just didn’t really seem to be happening, just going to the gym and doing the same thing over and over again.

Matthew: And that’s because you weren’t sure?

Jon: Yes, I wasn’t sure what I was doing and obviously since coming here, it’s more tailored to what you need for you and what you do.

Matthew: When you did try *losing weight previously, was that using nutrition and exercise, one or the other or a combination of the two?

Jon: It was more exercise, just going to the gym and do the exercise. Nutrition didn’t really focus on it; obviously I was trying to reduce what I ate, but then I would still be going to the takeaways and having a takeaway, but just having less and thinking that would help.

New Call-to-action

Matthew: Have you tried or done any diets before, any sort of strict set diets?

Jon: No.

Matthew: Ok, that’s fine. What does your lifestyle look like now, compared to before the DVCC?

Jon: Completely different; I am more conscious what I eat; I plan and prepare my foods a lot better and I don’t just go down the takeaway for food; I’ve got my meals planned out and I’m sticking to…

Matthew: Sticking to what you planned?

Jon: Sticking to my plan, yes.

Matthew: So you would say you’re in more of a routine than you were.

Jon: Yes, routine’s probably the best word; I’m in a routine with what I’m doing.

Matthew: Jon, how has the DVCC helped you personally?

Jon: Given me more confidence that you can *lose weight if you do it right. I’m feeling better in myself and I think from both the exercise and the nutrition, I am feeling a lot healthier and a lot better, I suppose a lot more energy as well.

Matthew: A lot more energetic; a lot more confident, more comfortable with yourself.

Jon: Yes, and it’s nice to actually see the results as well, that it is actually working.

Matthew: Fantastic. Do you have any specific tips, with regard to nutrition or exercise, that you can share with anyone listening who is trying to *lose weight?

Jon: Stick with it – it’s difficult but if you persevere, you get the results at the end of it.

Matthew: Absolutely - no pain, no gain!

Jon: Yes.

Matthew: What was the obstacle that would have prevented you from starting training with the DVCC, or training altogether, in general?

Jon: The obstacle?

Matthew: Yes, how you said you’d trained before?

Jon: I think work plays a big factor for me, on sort of getting time to do it. Having come here, because it’s flexible it’s easy because I can do it either before a shift or after.

If it was a normal gym, you’re a bit restricted on when you can go. And for me, if I finished late and the gym was shut, well I can’t do anything, whereas here you can book in your little session and you can fit it around your work a lot better.

Matthew: What excited you most about the Real You transformation process, the process that we use to get the amazing results that you’ve achieved?

Jon: Getting the results! I think that was the… will it work – I was a bit sceptical but then obviously when you start on the progress tracker and it starts going down, you actually think it is working.

Matthew: It’s good to see that you’re actually making progress. Good, perfect.

So, what would be the 3 main benefits you have received, or felt, since starting training with us?

Jon: I am a lot more conscious of what I eat, and I realise that perhaps, although you need to be mindful what you eat, but with the diet you can still have that reset meal, that one meal a week and not feel bad.

I feel a lot fitter and healthier from doing it. And I just enjoy it, a good atmosphere as well.

Matthew: Would you recommend the DVCC? If so, why?

Jon: Yes, because it’s actually very friendly, very personalised training and you do get the results from the tailored nutrition and that.

Matthew: Good – is there anything you’d like to add Jon, any final words?

Jon: No, not really.

Matthew: That’s fine. Thank you very much Jon, I hope you found this interview helpful. I want to thank you for your time, please comment below with any questions and we’ll get back to you.

This is Matthew from DVCC Northampton; thank you very much.
