Christine had always loved exercise. She was a regular at step classes, aerobics classes and was always training regularly. However, after having children, she developed postnatal depression.
Christine knew something was wrong and that she had numerous physical concerns, but no one would listen to her. She would be told: “If you can sort your head out, your body will be fine.”
Soon, Christine was suffering from ongoing depression and social anxiety. She stopped doing the things she loved, stopped exercising and began isolating herself from the outside world…
…But Christine was ready for that to change.
She was tired of being afraid gyms and so reached out to The DVCC.
We were able to help calm her fears, create a programme that worked for her and supported her in a caring, welcoming and friendly environment where she could be herself. This allowed Christine to work at her own pace, so she could be comfortable in the gym and around other people once more.
Now, Christine’s confidence is back, she makes the time she needs for herself, is training regularly and is constantly being the best that she can be.
