Carolyn Dawson Explains How She Lost Fat Even Whilst On Holiday!

Health, Fitness, Weight loss, Habits

Carolyn_Dawson

Josh:  Hello, my name is Josh from the DVCC and I am sat here with Carolyn Dawson, who has been a client at the DVCC now for just over a month and who has had some fantastic results in that time.

She has *lost just under a *stone of body fat and during that time she has actually been on holiday as well, and one of the main reasons for her success is that she has really, really got to grips with the metabolic damage solution and internalised those habits and managed to take them and do them whilst she was on holiday.

So I would just like to have a word with Carolyn today and see if we can come up with a few things that might help you to do the same. Carolyn, talk to me about your feelings when you first went through the metabolic damage solution with me.

Carolyn: I guess the first thing was, when I signed up I kind of knew what I was letting myself in for but didn’t; but I was very clear on my goals and you’d help me to do that and that was really important. T

he metabolic damage solution, when I first saw it I thought “Oh my God, how am I going to do this?” and went and bought a load of green stuff; my fridge was filled with green stuff and protein. fridgeThe first week was difficult to get used to it but it was worth persevering, and by the second week I was making really nice soups;

Soups are a great way of getting loads of green veg in; and we’ve discovered some really nice salads - and duck breast with green leaves is absolutely heavenly and we didn’t eat that sort of stuff before.

Or we would have loads of carbs with it. It’s really different and my husband has started to eat the same kind of food in the evening as me and we’re discovering some really nice recipes and enjoying it together.

Josh: That’s great to hear. So, to give me some perspective, talk me through what would be a typical day of food before you joined the DVCC?

Carolyn: Ok – lots of bread definitely; for breakfast I would probably have a couple of slices of toast, or maybe even - I thought I was being healthy by having some oats - so like cold porridge with apple juice in it, so high sugar, and maybe the only good thing was blueberries, and I thought that was really good.

And then for lunch I would have some home made soup, but it would be soup with potatoes in it to thicken it, with bread.

Evenings, we would definitely always have carbs because we loved potatoes, so meat and carbs. And I guess when I first came, if I realised I was going to give up all that stuff – I don’t know, I might have been wondering whether I was doing the right thing, but definitely, definitely sure that I am.

Josh: It’s a big mental obstacle to go over; so how does a day of food differ for you now?

Carolyn:  Eggs feature, big style, I’ve never eaten so many eggs in my life. So, eggs for breakfast – boiled or scrambled – and sometimes even I treat myself with a bit of smoked salmon in the eggs, or spinach, usually with some nuts as well.

I have a lemon and ginger tea in the morning, or peppermint tea; so that’s breakfast.

And then lunch, I usually have my home made soup, courgette and leek soup, lovely with some good spices in it for a bit of flavour. And I batch cook chicken thighs, with some nice spices on them, and that’s what I snack on, either eggs or chicken thighs, and have those as snacks and with lunch, or tins of tuna with chopped up vegetables, really nice.

And then evening, we tend to have either like a really nice salad, we treat ourselves to really nice leaves and now that I can have tomatoes, really nice tomatoes; some really nice quality leaves, and then a good protein. Like I say, sometimes we’ll treat ourselves to a steak, but a really nice steak, or a nice duck breast or a nice chicken breast.

New Call-to-action

Josh: Sounds delicious! So, knowing what you know now, do you find it any more difficult than what you were doing before, is it hard to keep up?

Carolyn: No, it’s got to the stage where it’s easier and, in fact, the prospect of going back - well it’s just not an option. And as I say, my husband is getting into this through osmosis really; he’s seeing the effects and wanting to get involved.

Josh:  That’s really good to hear. And I guess the testament would be that actually Carolyn has just got back from holiday, camping, and she’s actually managed to *lose body fat whilst being away.

Now, typically holidays are quite a tough time for people, typically it’s a time where you would indulge with your food, and I would just like to have a quick word about some things that Carolyn has implemented and been able to take away that has allowed her to *lose body fat while she was away.

So, if you could give us a little bit of background about where you went and how you did what you managed to do?

Carolyn:  Ok, we went camping, which you might imagine would be a bit of a challenge with food; so we got things like, I made sure in the cool box were things like celery, tomatoes, easy snacky things; and instead of doing my chicken thighs I would just get some packets of ham as a protein.

The only, I guess, challenge was at lunch time when you go out and you are in amongst restaurants and shops; then you go in there for food and everything is potato or bread based, so salad is the only option.

But you just need to look a little bit harder than perhaps you would, like if you go into Tesco you see the only salad they do is pasta salad which is no good, but if you go into some of the smaller delis or littler shops, or M&S is great for salads; they do a good takeaway salad.

Josh:  Awesome – thank you very much Carolyn. So, hopefully for those of you listening, you have managed to find some things that you can use in your daily life and that you can implement, mindset wise, that will help you to find the same kind of success with the metabolic damage solution that Carolyn has.

This is Josh and Carolyn from the DVCC; have a nice day and we’ll see you soon. Bye.
