Breakfast Like a King and Dine Like a Pauper?

Health, Habits, Cheat Meal, Healthy Foods, Healthy Eating

Well, in a word, yes. I really like that phrase. Of course, it’s very broad, but probably more right than wrong. As long as you’re sensible about what you eat in the morning.

What’s Right with it?

Well, it’s better to eat a lighter dinner so that your body has time to digest your meal instead of going to bed with a full stomach. A good breakfast will also set you up for the day by eating food that releases energy slowly.

Eating a good (healthy, not just big) breakfast will boost your metabolism.

After eight hours of not eating, your metabolism kicks back in in the morning. Eating a healthy breakfast will allow you to take advantage of that and help stabilise your weight.

You’ll be less likely to give into cravings mid-morning and snack on the wrong things, like sugary donuts and biscuits. Eggs are an excellent way of making sure you get enough protein in your diet. A lot of people, especially women, find that hard.

What’s Wrong with It?

While we always advocate starting your day out right, you do need to be sensible about it. Don’t have a huge breakfast if you’re going to be working out a few minutes after, for example.

Also, let’s be honest. How many times have you eaten breakfast like a king and then gotten hungry later on and snacked at midday? Or had a huge dinner as well?

While it’s not always the law, it’s not helpful to overeat at breakfast time, because you’re more likely to keep on overeating throughout the rest of the day. That’s why we recommend that our clients have their reset meal (cheat meal) at night and not in the morning.

Basically, a lot of it comes down to you and your habits. But as long as your breakfast is healthy and full of protein, then go ahead and eat like royalty.
