I was always quite active in my youth, playing allot of sport while at school. Football was main sport and used to play at school and then at weekends for local side, as I got older and went to secondary school I got into rugby and played for both school team and a weekend local club until I left school at 16.

I was still fairly active with my work as I was a landscape gardener and was always on the go, I still played weekends for local club but life got in the way and I slowly stopped playing after picking up a couple of injuries and I started to gain weight . Like most I tried to do something about it I joined the local gym tried diets and it would work for a while then it would bounce back if not worse than before.

I then changed career and started driving HGV's and the the weight really piled on and I got up to 120kgs then came the not feeling good and always tired again the gym the diets the same routine and vicious circle would start.

Then 4 years ago I had to have my gall bladder removed and this gave me, a really big kick that I needed to change my diet and started to really worry about what I ate. I was back in the gym and again after few month became bored and it stopped.

I was then involved in a accident while riding my motorcycle this was a big life changing moment, I was in allot of Physio and rehab to just to get back walking, I was determined to not go back to being lazy, I have kept up the fitness and joined the DVCC in February, it is not like a normal gym and am always looking forward to going and feel guilty if I have to miss a session, i have started running, I took part in a 5k,10k and my first 1/2 marathon.

I have also tried to get my diet under control too it is difficult when you love food, but small steps and I am slowly getting there. After all Rome wasn't built in a day, and hopefully I have plenty of time to finish what I have started on the road to a better me, what this space.
