How was your nutrition before you started at the DVCC?

I describe myself as a yo-yo dieter, so I tried everything from weight-watchers, swimming pool, all those kind of things, cabbage soup, all the rest of it. So it was just an up and down roller coaster.

How has the 12 week nutrition intensive helped you?

I think it's started to help me get the idea of being on a diet out of my head. So, it's about changing habits, and approaching food and my emotional connection with food in a different way.

How has nutrition helped you with your training?

I'm stronger than ever, I've just done training and just got a PB. So I'm feeling very pleased with myself, so I think particularly upping protein has really helped me build my strength.

What does the 1:1 accountability do for you?

I think just being able to have a 1:1 with somebody every couple of weeks and explain to them how you're feeling and how you've felt with your nutrition helps you because you know you've got to come and talk about that so when you're thinking of perhaps doing something that you shouldn't be, I have to think about, "Oh I have to tell Sam about that." So it maybe stops me.

How has your mindset and attitude to food changed?

I try not to think about being on a diet now, I try to think about it being the way that I'm gonna go forward. I haven't lost a massive amount of weight, but my body shape has changed. It's difficult now because it's nearly Christmas but, come the new year I'm gonna really get back into it again.

It really helped me early on, it was my daughters wedding this year and I was really proud of where I got to. Looking at a couple of the pictures now, I think, "Yeah, that worked for me." So I'm really pleased.
