My name is David Goodson, I'm 54 and have been a member at the DVCC for just over 3 years. I've lost around 30lbs of fat in the time and dropped 5 inches in waist size.

I run my own Human Resources & Training Consultancy primarily doing interim management and have recently finished a 12 month assignment as Head of Learning for HSBC UK and I'm just about to start a new project with them to set up their corporate university in their new UK headquarters which is currently under construction in Birmingham.

Work is usually in London or Birmingham so typically that means early starts and I leave home at around 6.00am most days. Outside of work myself and my wife Suzy, who is also a member at DVCC, are lay leaders of Wootton New Life Church and I'm also a school governor. We have two grown up children who both live and work in London.

I was never into sport and until I joined the DVCC I had hardly ever been in a gym or done any exercise. I was motivated to lose some weight and get into better shape after I turned 50 and from the moment I walked in the door for my initial assessment I was made to feel really welcome and put at ease. I try to get to the DVCC 4 - 5 times a week, usually straight from work at around 7.00pm or sometimes an early morning session if I'm able to.

One of the things I love about the DVCC is the flexibility and the amount of sessions available. I prefer semi-private sessions as I like the closer direction and support you get from the excellent trainers but I also occasionally join a team session which is always great. Everyone at the DVCC is very supportive and although it might sound corny there is a real family atmosphere.

I've learned new habits in terms of what I eat and feel much fitter and stronger than I ever have done.

If you're not sure whether the DVCC is for you I'd say give it a try. If I can do it, anyone can.
